ActionPacked! Networks Releases Cisco QoS Training Videos

More Coverage and News Releases

New video training resources include QoS videos from Kevin Wallace, noted technical trainer and Cisco Press author.

HONOLULU, HI – September 13, 2010 –ActionPacked! Networks, a leading provider of intelligent software for managing Cisco quality-of-service (QoS), announced today that it has made available 10 new QoS videos on the company’s web site including four from training expert and Cisco Press author Kevin Wallace. The company also included four videos from its own new training series “How QoS Works,” on the site.

“Now is a critical time for IT departments to build up their expertise in quality of service and to start applying it to their networks,” said ActionPacked! Founder Nelson Kanemoto. “According to Cisco’s own forecast, high bandwidth and performance sensitive business video conferencing traffic will grow ten-fold from 2009-2014. This along with the growth of other streaming video traffic will strain corporate networks and require QoS policies to differentiate and protect the applications critical to business operations.”

“To help engineers learn the many subtleties of QoS, we decided to add more training videos on our site, and we’d like to thank Kevin Wallace for sharing his expertise with our audience as well,” Kanemoto said. “Moving forward, we will continue to provide more free QoS resources to anyone and everyone who needs them.”

Kevin Wallace, CCIE No. 7945 recently announced his latest video series titled “The 3 Most Challenging QoS Topics” that ActionPacked! Networks has made available through its web site. “QoS can be a daunting subject, because there are so many elements and complex topics to understand," said Wallace. "My goal for these videos is to help demystify what I consider to be three of the more complex QoS topics."

Rather than using the network device’s user interface to explain these concepts, Wallace employs a variety of simple props and illustrations to convey QoS to his audience. “Once you understand the fundamental operation of a QoS mechanism, you can better decide how, or if, you should deploy it in your network,” he said.

The new QoS videos can be viewed on the ActionPacked! Networks web site and on YouTube. In addition to general QoS training, some of the ActionPacked! videos include demonstrations using the company’s LiveAction 2.0 software for auditing and configuring QoS.

LiveAction’s QoS capabilities include all-in-one auditing of QoS using end-to-end traffic flow visualization of DSCP markings and bandwidth, real-time QoS monitoring and alerting by class, routing visualization and troubleshooting of asymmetric paths and routing loops, policy-based route configuration for optimizing critical paths, and IP SLA for proactive QoS performance monitoring and testing.  LiveAction also includes visual creation and editing of QoS policies.

Viewers interested in using LiveAction for QoS can download a 14-day free trial from the ActionPacked! web site.
