Dana Matsunaga
President and COO, Board of Directors

Dana Matsunaga is the President and COO of LiveAction.  Mr. Matsunaga has more than 25 years of experience in networking communications industry. During his career, he has led corporate, product/solutions marketing, sales, business development and engineering initiatives. Prior to joining LiveAction, Mr. Matsunaga was Director of Program Management at Spirent Communications where he managed marketing, product management, software development, hardware engineering, product verification, manufacturing and services multi-site teams throughout the organization. Mr. Matsunaga has a MS degree in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University and a BS degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Hawaii.

John K. Smith
CTO, Board of Directors, Co-Founder

John K. Smith is the CTO and Vice-President for LiveAction.  Mr. Smith is responsible for developing the technical vision, strategies, and relationships to drive product development to meet customer needs. He has been in the networking field for more than 15 years, holding 2 patents and 4 patent applications. Previously, Mr. Smith served as Vice President of engineering at Spirent Communications where his contributions led to more than $120 million in revenue per year, while overseeing the product line and leading more than 130 engineers. He has been in software development for more than 25 years. Mr. Smith holds a MS degree in Computer Science from the University of Hawaii and a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Washington as well as a MBA from Chaminade University.

Steve Adams
Director of Sales

Steve Adams is the Director of Sales at LiveAction and has 30 years of experience in the Energy and Technology industries. Mr. Adams specializes in green field business development bringing next-generation network performance management solutions to market, and has been recognized by customers in exceeding service level expectations. In his role, he leads the Field Sales and Engineering teams to ensure their clear understanding of customer business needs and requirements in order to develop and implement efficient and affordable technology solutions. Mr. Adams has a MS degree from Louisiana State University and a BS degree from the University of South Carolina.

Kathleen Nguyen
Product Marketing Senior Manager

Kathleen Nguyen is a Product Marketing Senior Manager at LiveAction where she is responsible for all aspects of outbound marketing and lead generation efforts. Ms. Nguyen has more than 25 years of experience in customer interactions and productizing highly successful offerings for enterprise, consumer, and service provider environments. Before joining LiveAction, Ms. Nguyen worked at Cisco Systems, IBM, Cable & Wireless USA, and Seiko Epson in roles that spanned multiple areas such as product management, solution development, capacity planning, and professional services. She is a dynamic professional who has the ability to grow strong multi-functional global teams, build repeatable processes, and execute on critical development programs. She has a MS degree in Computer Science, BS degree in Mathematics from George Mason, and currently holds several Cisco and industry certifications including CCNP (Routing and Switching), CCNA (Voice), and PMP.

Robert Pierce
Engineering Manager

Robert Pierce is the Engineering Manager of LiveAction. Mr. Pierce has more than 15 years of experience in the software industry with companies such as Orincon, Lockheed Martin, and Referentia Systems. During his career, he has led several software development projects from beginning to end while defining requirements, designing architectures, writing software code, integration, and verification testing of features and solutions. In addition Mr. Pierce has a deep knowledge of networking technologies such as routing, switching, SNMP, QoS, NetFlow, Routing, ACLs, and IPSLA. He has a MS and BS degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Hawaii.

Darren T. Kimura
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer

Darren T. Kimura is the Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of LiveAction.  He is a Managing Partner at Enerdigm Ventures, an early stage technology venture capital firm.  He is an accomplished technology executive with more than 20 years of experience in 23 countries including the U.S., Japan, and India. Mr. Kimura’s industry experience covers Information Technology (IT), Energy Efficiency, and Clean Technology. During his career, Mr. Kimura has been inventor on 14 patents, oversaw the acquisition of more than $2 billion in contracts, raised in excess of $80 million in venture capital and private equity, and more than $100 million in project financing. He has led key strategic initiatives such as preparing for Initial Public Offerings and Mergers and Acquisitions by organizing teams, advocating intellectual properties, and leading strategic engagements with Fortune 500 companies. He has a BA degree from the University of Hawaii where he studied Computer Sciences and Business and attended Portland State University where he studied electrical engineering.

Nelson Kanemoto
Board of Directors, Co-Founder

Nelson Kanemoto is the Founder of Referentia Systems and currently serves as its President and CEO. He directs the strategic decision-making process for different verticals of the business. With more than 20 years of professional experience in business planning and technology development, strategic marketing and positioning, and managing staff and key partners, Mr. Kanemoto has directed Referentia’s growth in the development of critical infrastructure solutions including cyber security, network performance management, utility smart grid, healthcare information exchange, and aircraft maintenance. He holds a MS degree and BS degree in Computer Science from the University of Hawaii.

Dr. John Davidson
Advisor

Dr. John Davidson is an Independent Investor and Advisor to many high-tech start-up companies. Previously, he was a general partner of Startup Capital Ventures and is now a Special Fund Advisor. Dr. Davidson has over 35 years of experience as a successful entrepreneur in the communications networking industry. Early in his career, he served as the University of Hawaii's liaison to the Technical Working Group for the ARPANET program, participating in the design and implementation of the TCP/IP protocols. In 1979, Dr. Davidson co-founded and served as Chief Technical Officer for Ungermann-Bass, Inc., where he helped grow the company to $400 million in revenues, leading the company's development efforts through its IPO in 1983. In 1993, Dr. Davidson founded Network Telesystems, Inc., a self-funded internet infrastructure software company, where he served as Chairman and CEO. He received his BA degree from Middlebury College and his MS and PhD degrees from the University of Hawaii.
